A play and a border-breaking project between two different theatres, cities and societies.
The idea for the play The Wedding was born out of a collaboration between two theaters, two cities and two communities: Blaagaards Theater in Copenhagen and the Theater of the Women of the Camp in the Borj el Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut. Together, the theaters will produce a play intending to break down the barriers between the refugee camp and the rest of the world and create understanding between different cultures.
The project has been created and is led by the two theatres Theatre of the Women of the Camp (LB) and Blaagaard Teater (DK). Furthermore, the project includes four other partners, being Hammana Artist House (LB) and Us, the Moon and Neighbours Festival (LB) and Sunflower Theatre (LB).
Theater of The Women of the Camp is a future international company and art academy, located in the south of Beirut in Lebanon at the Borj el Barajneh refugee camp with 40.000 stateless Palestinian citizens.
The theatre has been co-founded by Sophie Ramløv Barclay Hatem and Fadia Loubani.
