The project ‘Unfolding the Universe’ investigates the role of art biennials in reviving and expanding existing networks through an extensively collaborative program.
Unfolding the Universe is a broad international collaboration with partners from across five continents. The project is led by Tenthaus Art Collective who are the appointed curators of Momentum12 Art Biennale.
The project’s main focus is to investigate the role of art biennals in strengthening and expanding existing artistic networks. The project aims to be a long-term international practice, collectively developed by artists, curators, researchers, educators, and institutions from the global north and south.
The collaboration in the project consists of a multitude of actors representing most parts of the world. Partners include actors from Taiwan, Latvia, Indonesia, Thailand, Denmark, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Zambia, Colombia, USA and the UK.
Tenthaus Art Collective has been working together in various constellations since 2009. The collective is characterized by an open, process-oriented form of participation and collaboration. They focus on local contexts exploring collectivity and inclusion through different forms of engagement.
Today Tenthaus encompasses both a project room and an exhibition space, a mobile studio, and a wide range of curatorial projects. As a collective Tenthaus reimagines themselves and what it means to be artists working with the public, and what makes a relevant socially engaged practice today.
