Globus Opstart will open for applications on February 19th with renewed criteria and a new name, Globus Opstart+. With the update, the Fund will allow for a more flexible and long-term approach within the initial phases of new Nordic/Global collaborative projects.
Since 2020 Globus Opstart has supported the early development phases of new Nordic/Global collaborative projects within Globus, the Fund’s ongoing thematic initiative. The support gives projects the opportunity to explore new approaches, build collaborations and strengthen their practice and artistic development, focusing on mutual engagement from different parts of the world.
Globus Opstart is now focused further, based on the experiences of previously completed projects and in line with the overall development of the Globus initiative. The main objective of the programme remains the same, but the criteria are adjusted: the maximum amount of support will increase from 50.000 DKK to 75.000 DKK to accommodate for the geographical and thematic width of the collaborations. At the same time the name changes from simply Globus Opstart to Globus Opstart+.
The adjustment of the criteria entails an increased focus on the global ambitions of the projects, e.g. how they are reflected in the choice of collaborating partners, the project’s structure and the anchoring in specific local/regional contexts and environments.
More emphaises will also be placed on the project’s long-term ambitions and development potential.
At the same time, it will be possible to apply for a continuation of previously supported initiatives or a new development phase within the same project.
Globus Opstart+ is part of a new phase in the Fund’s Globus-programme, which in the coming years from 2024-2025 will focus on creating more long-lasting and sustainable artistic networks and collaboration platforms with a Nordic/Global relevance.
Overall, the Globus initiative has contributed to the manifestation of a new space for working in the Nordic, both geographically and thematically, through the opportunity of obtaining funding for projects that extend beyond the Nordic region. The coming phase will secure an increased long-term anchoring of the initiative’s objective and potential as well as a clearer knowledge track focusing on the communication of insights and knowledge gained.
During spring, the Fund will also launch a new version of the Globus Call-programme, the other funding programme within the initiative. The objective will be to create space for building long-term capacity in international collaborations, being aware of the structural challenges experienced in the field.
