On 29 November, the Nordic Culture Fund will participate in a cultural policy summit in Oslo. The meeting will gather actors within cultural policy and the cultural field in the Nordic region to discuss challenges, need and opportunities within the artistic and cultural field.
At the summit, key actors will share knowledge and strengthen dialogue between policymakers and the cultural sector in the Nordic region. Through new reports, strategies and experiences, the participants will discuss how cultural cooperation in the Nordic region can support the cultural sector that has recently been disturbed by the corona pandemic, among other things.
As part of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ 2030 Vision for a competitive and socially sustainable Nordic Region, the meeting will also focus on artistic freedom and the developmental role that art and culture can play in society.
The meeting will be attended by around 120 representatives from the Nordic cultural field, including Anette Trettebergstuen, Norway’s Minister of Culture and Equality; Jonas Wendel, Acting Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers and Lilja Dögg Alfreðsdóttir, Icelandic Minister of Culture. At the meeting The Nordic Culture Fund will be represented by Director Benny Marcel, who will take part in a discussion on the challenges, needs and opportunities of the cultural field.
The meeting is organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality in connection to Norway’s chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2022.
