The project will involve a parallel site-specific art project, in collaboration with Til Vægs in Denmark, and the Teatro Oficina in Bixiga, examining gentrification processes in both locations.
The project is coordinated by the Danish exhibition platform Til Vægs, in collaboration with Brazilian artist Rodrigo Andreolli, working in and for the public housing area AKB Lundtoftegade and Bixiga, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Through interviews with the residents in Lundtoftegade and Bixiga, an unveiling of stories occur about people’s lives, their neighbourhood, their dreams, aspirations and traumas, their ways of relating to family, neighbours, to the surroundings and to the city. From this material an archive or social topography is being formed of local (hi)stories that are the basis and material of Mirroring Places.
The project will involve a parallel site-specific art project, in collaboration with Til Vægs in Denmark, and the Teatro Oficina in Bixiga, examining gentrification processes in both locations.Additionally, a conference will be held in Copenhagen, arranged in collaboration with researchers from Performative Design at Roskilde University (DK) and Performative Urbanism at Concordia University (CA).
