“Transnational archives in the Arctic: a cultural exchange of memories” is a project which investigates archive structures about the Arctic, with an aim to decolonize contemporary archive structures by developing alternatives and create dialogue and cultural exchange across and beyond the Arctic region.
The project addresses existing (public and private) archives and collections outside the Arctic, but about the Arctic. If these archives are the gatekeepers of history, the applicant – in collaboration with experts and private collectors – wants to uncover how archives and collections shape the interpretations of past events in our own time (and in the future). The project aims to propose a new digital archive structure that attempts to decolonize contemporary archive structures, and create a transnational dialogue and open cultural exchange – across and beyond the Arctic region.”
The application har multiple competent and relevant collaborators, and the project appears qualitatively solid in it’s understanding of archives and in it’s potential for long-term development.
