Which elements comprises an optimal residency? Where in the Nordics can actors within crafts and design get to access specialised knowledge and skills of production?
The Nordic Culture Fund, together with the Danish Arts Foundation and the organisation Norwegian Crafts (NO), has initiated a mapping of the available knowledge and needs regarding residencies within the field of crafts and design in the Nordics. The aim of the initiative is to support artistic development and innovation within the field and in a long-term perspective contribute to the establishment of new residencies in the Nordics.
The initiative has been launched with an Open Call for applicants, financed by the Danish Arts Foundation and Norwegian Crafts. Practitioners within crafts and design with a primary production in Denmark or Norway may apply for a residency at production studios or production places throughout the Nordics.
The Danish Agency for Cultural Analysis has been engaged to analyse data from the Open Call and gather experiences so that the three organisations can have a knowledge-based basis for the continued work and anchoring of the initiative widely in the Nordic region and to further contribute to the development of concrete residencies.
