The Nordic Culture Fund will participate in the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture, organised by the International Federation of Arts Councils and Cultural Agencies (IFACCA), taking place in Seoul, South Korea from 27 to 30 May. The Fund is an affiliate member of IFACCA and is currently collaborating with the network on a fellowship programme under the framework of its Globus initiative.
The IFACCA World Summit on Arts and Culture is an international forum that brings together leading policymakers, researchers, cultural leaders and practising artists from around the globe. Held every three years, the Summit is this year co-hosted by Arts Council Korea (ARKO).
The event features a comprehensive three-day programme that invites participants to exchange insights and explore strategies to future-proof the cultural and creative sectors (CCS), with a particular emphasis on the current and emerging digital and technological landscape. This year’s programme is framed by three key themes: knowledge systems and agency, participatory systems and connectedness, and digital systems and technology.
The Nordic Culture Fund became an affiliate member of IFACCA in 2024 and entered into a three-year partnership with the network to launch a fellowship programme aligned with the Fund’s Globus initiative. The IFACCA-Globus Fellowship is a hybrid learning and exchange programme designed for representatives from selected IFACCA member organisations. The programme addresses current issues in cultural policy and the strategic use of evidence and data to advocate for public support of the cultural and creative sectors at the national level. In addition, the programme aims to foster networking among participating institutions by facilitating both regional and international peer connections.
In the first round of the Fellowship Programme, 21 fellows from 11 IFACCA member organisations have shared knowledge and insights through a 13-month development process. The meeting in Seoul marks the conclusion of the first round of the Fellowship Programme.
As part of the partnership between IFACCA and the Nordic Culture Fund, a number of projects supported by the Globus programme will also take part in the Summit, presenting their initiatives to the international audience.
IFACCA (International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies) is the global network of arts councils, ministries of culture, and government agencies working to advance arts and culture. The network has member institutions from over 70 countries.
